Welcome to Somatic Coaching in Kansas City

At the heart of my work is somatic coaching — a body-based, experiential approach that helps you move out of your head and into your lived experience. Somatics is about listening to your body’s signals, emotions, and sensations to create real, lasting change.

Whether you’re here to explore intimacy, strengthen your relationship, or work with the impact of trauma, somatic coaching offers the same foundation: safety, presence, and practical tools you can use every day.

Let’s Meet Over Coffee (or tea)

There’s something different about sitting across from someone and being genuinely listened to. “Coffee with Heidi Oh” is a $35 consultation where you can bring what’s real and experience what it’s like to be met with clarity, curiosity, and emotional presence.

If you’re longing for a space where your story lands and your questions are taken seriously, this hour offers a genuine sense of whether working together is the right next step—and sometimes even that first conversation creates movement you didn’t expect.

If you want to skip the consultation and are ready to schedule an appointment with me or have general questions - text me 725-222-6771 or email Heidi@heidioh.com

What does “somatic” mean?

Somatic work is often the missing link that talk therapy never quite reaches. You can intellectually understand your patterns, your childhood, or why you react the way you do—and still feel triggered, disconnected, or overwhelmed. That’s because the body holds experiences long after the mind has processed them. Somatic work helps your nervous system finally catch up.

Instead of only talking about what happened, we bring the body into the healing—breath, sensation, posture, movement—so your system can release stress instead of recycling it. Research shows that somatic approaches can help reduce anxiety, interrupt emotional shutdown, and improve emotional regulation in ways talking alone can’t.

In session, we slow down enough for your body to feel safe again. When safety returns, connection returns—within yourself, and in your relationships. And that’s where real change sticks.

Some Reasons People Come See Me

People seek somatic-based support when they’re experiencing things like:

  • feel less triggered by overwhelming situations instead of shutting down or reacting

  • regulate emotions in real time, even during difficult conversations

  • reconnect with parts of yourself that feel numb or emotionally shut down

  • stay present and grounded in intimacy instead of disappearing into your head

  • express needs, desires, and boundaries clearly—without guilt or shame

  • break repetitive relationship patterns by learning new embodied responses

  • calm your nervous system when your body wants to run, freeze, or lash out

  • take insight (what you “know”) and turn it into actual behavioral change

  • create connection with others instead of waiting for it or trying to earn it

  • ask for what you want sexually or emotionally without apologizing for it

  • stay open and engaged even when vulnerability feels uncomfortable

  • experience intimacy without abandoning yourself or overaccommodating

  • feel safe enough to receive affection, pleasure, and emotional closeness

  • differentiate between true desire and obligation so intimacy feels authentic

The benefits to learning emotional regulation are vast and unique for everyone. Whether you're working through emotional hurts, nervous system dysregulation, intimacy challenges, or just a desire to feel more alive—somatic work helps you reconnect to yourself in a way that talking alone never could. And here in Kansas City, that’s exactly where we begin.

Somatics is the thread connecting all of my work. By listening to your body’s wisdom, we can create lasting change — whether you’re rebuilding intimacy, strengthening your relationships, or moving through the effects of trauma.

What does my nervous system have to do with healing?
